This is Beat Bergmann´s Subaru Impreza GT GC8 unit, a 1997 model tuned for the Swiss Hillclimb and Slalom Series and built to a very interesting spec. Not even close to the most most extreme spec we have featured on our Channel, it is although a very balanced machine tuned to make many of the Classic Subaru traits even more exposed.

With the 4 Cylinder Turbocharged Boxer Engine now in 2.1L form and producing a healthy 370Hp/500Nm delivered with the distinct warble and all the good Turbo Sounds even more pronounced, weighing 1150Kg and sporting a Manual Gearbox, it goes even more to the Classic JDM Tuning scene with the Sonic Blue Mica colour and some Rota IK-R Grid 9x17" wheels.

A proper Subaru in the eyes of any of the Japanese Manufacturer´s fans and one we think deserve to be shown properly both inside and outside. Special thanks to MaxiPixelRally for the footage provided without which this video would be impossible to make. Subscribe to their Channel right here:

This is the second version of the Slalom Monster AE82 we presented some weeks ago, now with its bodywork based on the more modern AE92 Corolla. It´s Ken Okuyama´s Tom´s S1D, a Legend of Japanese Gymkhana/Slalom Racing, a spaceframed, Rear Wheel Drive Corolla featuring a Central Driver Position, and powered by a mid-mounted 3S-GE Naturally Aspirated engine producing 260Hp/9.500Rpm tuned by Legendary Japanese Tuner Tom´s.

With this engine sourced form a Formula 3 Racer, its quite extreme architecture and weighing only 600Kg this was a multiple Champion in late 80´s and early 90´s Japanese Slalom scene thanks to its incredible agility.

This will be a controversial one. It´s Steve Cox´s Ferrari F40 Silhouette and it is a 4.0L V8 Lexus engined Ferrari F40 LM replica built in New Zealand in the early 2000´s as a Passion project.

Still running nowadays, the footage seen here is captured on Leadfoot Festival´s 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions, with this Monster in its ultimate stage of evolution. With around 750Hp from its dry sumped, alloy Lexus Racing engine in Twin Turbochagred form, with said power sent to the rear wheels through a Quaife Six speed Sequential transaxle gearbox, it is a 1200Kg Monsterwith custom designed and built chassis from specially imported tubular steel and pretty much all other bodywork components being custom built in Fibreglass, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre.

It has posted some amazing results throught the years and even its acceleration figures are quite impressive with a 0-100Km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds and a 0-200Km/h in 9.1 seconds giving a proper idea of the kind of fire power propelling this Beast.

In another installment of forgotten Monsters from the past , we have Fernando Capdevila´s Ford Fiesta Proto 4x4, which in reality is a MG Metro 6R4 Group B machine with a Ford Fiesta Mk3 body ( sort of.... ).

The 480Hp Naturally Aspirated V6 mid-engined machine is using the Fiesta inspired bodywork thanks to Mr. Capdevila´s commercial connection with Ford at the time. Used mainly on the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship in the late 90´s, here it can be seen at Formula Rally Oviedo 1997 where some properly unique Race Cars (like the Astra Andros we showed some weeks ago were allowed to race.

And most of all, it is One-Off creation that surely won´t be repeated again. That something like that would be lost in time is shame on "our book"..

We have featured Jean Duby´s Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 before, alongside Sebastien Loeb´s Peugeot 208 T16 in a comparison video, but it´s now time to show this Monster by itself as it quite the unique unit even among the normal standards of this Group B Monster.

This is Chassis C216 and was raced by Michele Mouton and Juha Kankkunen on 1986 on Tour de Corse and the 1000 Lakes Rally respectively. After the end of Group B it would be transformed into a Rallycross Car, although even more important than that, was that it was fitted with a 1.9L Turbocharged from a Pikes Peak-spec 205 T16. Producing between 550Hp-700Hp depending on boost, it is quite the unique Monster and it was possible to observe up and close on the Montée des Lègendes 2018 event on France.

550Hp Alfa 155 GTA Vs 12.000RPM Alfa 155 DTM

Alfa Romeo 155 models have a tremendous Hillclimb Racing career, taking advantage of the different Racing Versions that were developed on its base. The two most extreme can be seen here with the Turbocharged Alfa Romeo 155 GTA against the Naturally Aspirated Alfa Romeo 155 ITC-DTM.

The GTA here campaigned by Roberto Di Giuseppe was originally prepared by Jolly Club for Touring Car racing in the 90´s, and this machine uses all internals from the Lancia Delta Integrale that was so successful on the World Rally Championship (Transmission and engine) which after some fine tuning made them a competitive machine for the circuits. Very few units were built (less than 20 if rumours are to go by) and 2 of them later in their life found great success on the Italian Hillclimb Championship. Most notably with Roberto Di Giuseppe, who we see on the footage. Many Class wins and a Championship were won with this Monster that on its later stage of evolution was producing around 550Hp to all four wheels and capable of a 0-100Km/h sprint in less than 3 seconds.
Against it we have Marco Gramenzi´s Alfa Romeo 155 ITC-DTM, the Legendary Touring Car built for the German DTM series in the 90´s, with this particular unit seeing many special evolutions being performed specs-wise , with its 2.5 litre V6 being developed to produce over 500Hp at a staggering 12.000Rpm. Adding to all this a specially built Q4 all-wheel drive traction by Alfa, a structure mostly made by carbon fibre resulting in less than 1000Kg of total weight, it all produces an amazingly capable machine with which Gramenzi won several Italian Hillclimb Championships on his class.

It´s over 500Hp of Turbocharged Cosworth goodness sent to the rear wheels on a beatifully mechanical way and tamed by veteran Portuguese driver Luís Barros. This is a Ford Sierra Cosowrth tuned to RS500 spec by AMOB Racing Tam from Portugal and raced on both circuit and Hillclimb Racing to this day.

The Cosworth YB Turbo powered Group A Ford from the late 80´s and early 90´s has a special place on the hearts of may motorsports fans. And with good reason. From Bathurst, to Brands Hatch, to Nurburgring among many others in the Circuit Racing world, to Rally Monte Carlo or Corsica in WRC it´s a machine that proved its worth on many venues...

Hillclimb Racing is no different. In fact for many years, Sierra Cosworth, RS500 and BMW M3´s in their different versions battled for top spots in many classes of this sport. Such was their speed and versatility that even to this day we can observe footage like that. In this case we see an incredibly clean unit of a Sierra RS500 that is raced by AMOB Racing Team in Portugal and on this case attacking the great Rampa da Falperra.

This one is extra Rare as it is the only prototype ever built of this model, having raced only twice and stored since then. It´s called a Subaru EVA 88D and it´s a mid-engined 1.8L Turbocharged Coupé loosely based on the Subaru Alcyone and built by EVA ( Chassis Builder) and K.I.T. ( Suabru Tuning Specialist).

Using a carbon fiber monocoque and a 1.8L AE82T engine positioned behind the driver, it featured a very complex 4WD/2WS system that would be on the reasons that would lead to the end of the project. The goal was for the driver to have complete complete control to the number of wheels being driven which would be an advantage on the terrain where it was initially supposed to compete: the Paris-Dakar Rally.

As you can probably tell, it would end up not fulfilling that goal and ended up being entered on two events of the All Japan Gymkhana Championship where it would achieve very modest results while in the process cracking its chassis in different areas. Deemed unsafe to continue without a full Chassis rebuild, it eneded up being stored on K.I.T.´s Shop where it still is to this day.

These were the Fastest 10 Monsters present and the diversity is already incredible. From FWD High-Revving Monsters, a Group A Subaru, Lancia Delta, a Twin Turbo Porsche 993 and a sonorous 5 Cylinder Turbocharged Audi, we had it all.

Check for yourself who was fastest and along the way pick your favourite and let us know in the Comments.

P.S. : Little Typo on the description of the Subaru Impreza WRX STi spec, where we say it has an Inline 4 Engine. It is obviously a Flat (Boxer) 4 Engine. We apologize for that mistake.

A second gen Honda CRX powered by a F20 engine (from the Honda S2000) with around 280Hp all produced in Naturally Aspirated form at around 9.200Rpm with power distributed to the Front Wheels through a 6 -speed Sequential Gearbox. The 90´s Coupé has also seen its weight severely reduced, displaying now numbers in the proximity of 800Kg of dry weight. All this turning it into one of the fastest 2000cc Class machines all while sporting a very Mugen look, that we´re sure porper JDM fans will appreciate...

This beautiful unit is August Gratzer´s Lancia Beta Montecarlo, a racing version of the 70´s Coupé built by the Italian manufacturer and sporting the Iconic Martini colours.

Clearly Supercharged, we certainly lack more technical info about this machine although counting on it using the 2.0L inline 4 Lampredu engine certainly shoudn´t be a wrong bet. The fact it uses a supercharged much like the 037 that was based on this model, also adds to the appeal. Furthermore its nimbleness certainly attracted our attention.

And let´s not kid ourselves. The fact it looks pretty awesome, also helps.. What can wesay, we are suckers for some Italian Classic Racing Car charm....

Norbert Handa has developed for over 20 years this beautiful Lancia Delta Integrale into the Monster that can be seen here at Osnabruck and Eschdorf Hillclimb 2018. With 650Hp moving only 940Kg, this All Wheel Drive Hatchback is a proper contender on every Berg-Cup event it enters.

Or should we say, "it did enter" as Mr. Handa retired this last year from the Hillclimb Racing scene. Well into his 60´s, the seasoned German Racerdecided to end his illustrious career leaving behind a legacy impossible to detach from this very model. We sure hope this Monster finds its way back into the Hillclimb World as it certainly is a fascinating machine.

Not the most common sight on the Hillclimb Racing world ( although not easy to understand why...) here we have the Honda Integra Type-R in its DC2 version, driven by Gilbert Meier on the InterSwiss HillClimb Series.

Still powered by the B18 motor in Naturally Aspirated form, here producing 220Hp, it benefits from some "dieting", tipping the scales at around 890Kg. Adding to that we have a whole host of aerodynamic appendages and some extra width thanks to the widened bodykit.

This beautiful SEAT 124E was built, prepared and being raced nowadays by Roberto Barreiro from Spain and while looking like the Group 5 units that once raced in the 70´s, in truth it is a far more modified machine.

Powered by a Naturally Aspirated 1,8 litre SEAT engine, it now uses a 16 valve FIAT cylinder Head with Butterfly Valve, while part of its chassis its spaceframed, using a BMW E36 Rear Axle and with all its bodywork made in either Reinforced Plastic, Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass.

About actual numbers, not much information is known but given the parts used it is easy to deduct that we´re taking about a machine with power around 180 to 190Hp and weighing around 800Kg.

On a sadder note you will see that on Third Place we have a usual Car/Driver combo that unfortunately ended up crashing on the last run of the day and probably finishing his whole Season straight away.
